It’s incredible when we are able to fight off the ghosts and demons in our own minds. Our own psychological state can be our worst enemy. Luckily, through spiritual discourse with a kindred spirit I came up with these few brain hacks…Affirmations that are good for overcoming mental discord.
1) Ghost-buster: Thank you for being a part of my journey. (Time period: pertaining to the past)
A ghost that stirred up the past recently made it’s way into my consciousness. It started with a toothache on my wisdom tooth. The next morning it was a headache, and finally the following day it moved down to my digestive track. I thought that it was clearing out, but I’ve been eating extra and feeling emotionally attached to the past, so I know it’s not quite finished with it’s tactics.
Ghosts are around to scare us, like in the movies. They can torment us about the past, causing our minds to replay it as if it is happening currently. Sometimes we become as disturbed by the memories as we were by the actual happenings.
Realize that everyone and everything that came into our lives was part of our spiritual journey. They added to the creation of who we are in this moment, a beautifully evolving divine soul. Accepting this is one way to feel gratitude, or closure. Leave the past there, where it belongs, in the past. And instead of harboring regrets, anger, sadness, or any other negative emotions, just say “Thank you. Thank you for being a part of my journey.” And with that it is done. Do not engage in any mental/emotional dialogue with the ghosts.
2) Vampire, demon, genie (jinn) buster: My pure intentions are strong and unwavering. (Time period: pertaining to the present)
If you feel your energy being drained by a current situation, this may be the affirmation to use. The energy draining entities listed above can generally only get to us with our permission, albeit sometimes passive or unconscious permission. These permissions could be a negative thought, feeling, desire or intention.
Humans can act as these entities as well. We all know someone who’s presence can make us feel as if the life has gone out of us. At other times we are caught up in our own desires, and confusions.
In any case, to keep strongly to our pure intentions is the key to overcoming these distractions. If we are strong in our aims for spiritual growth, well-being, good actions, kindness, etc., then these beings do not find a hand hold in us.
3) Ghosts (fears) from the future: Is there any reward for good other than good (Time period: pertaining to the future)
This verse from the holy book, the Quran, from the chapter bearing my own name (Rahman), is a great line to instill hope. The future is the last time period that can haunt us. We can be afraid that we will suffer lack of some sort. But in this verse we have the assurance that if we act to the best of our ability (or even are just pretty good), then we will be fine! We will be okay. All will be well. It is a promise to us from the Creator of the Universe. And it is logical. So relax!
